Short-row godet ground with ripple dividers
Flat ground of shallow fan/godet shapes in staggered rows, separated by bands of rolls that become wavy because the ground below them is shaped. Work flattened short-row peaks across width (sections of S needles + spacer), then a stack of full-row lifted rolls (e.g.

- What it looks like
- Flat ground of shallow fan/godet shapes in staggered rows, separated by bands of rolls that become wavy because the ground below them is shaped.
- How it behaves
- Wavy horizontal rolls on gently undulating ground.
- How it works
- Work flattened short-row peaks across width (sections of S needles + spacer), then a stack of full-row lifted rolls (e.g. 8/16/8 rows), then the next godet row staggered by half.
- Machines
- Single bed + hold.
- Parameters
- S = 16, spacer 4 (cast on multiple of 20); shaping depth 3 needles per side; roll sequence 8-16-8 rows; stagger by half section.
- Steps
- 1) Godet row: section by section across. 2) Full row. 3) Ripple stack with full-row lifts. 4) Godet row staggered (half sections at edges). Repeat.
- Charting
- Partial-knit outlines + ripple bands; lifts implied.
- Limits and common problems
- Shallow shaping intended—deep shaping overpowers rolls.
- Combines with
- colour per godet tier.
- Pieces and assembly
- Edges uneven at half-sections; keep selvedge needles.
