Bed chart and needle notation maker
Draw which needles knit on the front bed, the back bed or both, row by row. Purlbed turns the chart into needle notation, a row sequence and a page for your technical book.
How it works
- Open Purlbed, choose New bed chart and pick your machine type and number of needles.
- Draw front-bed, back-bed and double-jersey cells; mark hold, tuck, slip, transfers and lifts.
- Read the needle notation and the row sequence as you draw: bed changes become transfer arrows, sideways moves become hooked arrows.
- Set yarn, plating yarn, tension and carriage direction per row, then export an A4 technical-book page as PNG or PDF.
What you get
- A bed chart in 6-needle modules, 120 needles by default, drawn with a finger, mouse or Apple Pencil.
- Needle notation worked out from the chart, with transfers and racking.
- A row sequence with yarn, tension and carriage direction for every row.
- An approximate relief preview: ribs pulling in, single-bed panels bulging, folds.
- An A4 technical-book page with a box to pin the swatch, stitch and row braces and the first steps.
Which machines
Charts follow the machine type you pick: single beds (punch card, electronic, manual), single beds with a ribber, Passap-type double beds with pushers and double-bed hand flats such as Dubied. Cells a type cannot knit are refused with the reason. Machine types
