The full card

What it looks like
A flat central spine with wavy, fluted or flaring sides like lettuce edges or a ruff. Wedge lines are visible near the edges.
How it behaves
Edge flare and ripple, fairly pronounced. Vertical spine.
How it works
Keep a central group that never gets extra rows. On each side in turn, work an edge group with short-row wedges (hold inward-to-outward, then return), or simply knit extra rows on the edge group with the end needle wrapped.
Machines
Single bed, hold.
Parameters
edge group e (≈15 of 40); step size (≈3); spine width (≈10); repeats (≈6).
Steps
1) Carriage on R. Hold all except the right e needles. Knit 1 row. 2) Hold s needles per pass from the centre outward until s remain. 3) Return s per pass until e are working again. 4) Knit all needles to L. 5) Mirror on the left. 6) Repeat.
Charting
Shaded triangular blocks at both sides. The centre stays plain. "C" marks where wrapping is used.
Limits and common problems
Too much flare causes curling and makes weighting hard.
Combines with
pk-one-side-wedge, elastic stripes.
Pieces and assembly
Decorative edges and trims. The spine can be seamed.
