Eyelets inside jersey areas of a rib-transfer fabric

Rows of small round holes, staggered, within smooth panels between rib zones; faint zigzag drift (alternating direction) or lean (same direction). Different appearance on each face. Every other stitch moved to its neighbour on the same bed; empty needle left in work.

What it looks like
Rows of small round holes, staggered, within smooth panels between rib zones; faint zigzag drift (alternating direction) or lean (same direction). Different appearance on each face.
How it behaves
flat/open; adds lightness and slight directionality.
How it works
Every other stitch moved to its neighbour on the same bed; empty needle left in work. Row 1: double stitch knits as one, empty needle collects a tuck loop. Row 2: full stitch forms over the loose tuck, which stays open → eyelet. Alternate left/right per repeat.
Machines
Works single bed or double bed; transfer tool only; ribber not needed for the lace itself.
Parameters
spacing (every 2nd needle), direction sequence (L,R,...), rows between (2), border needles kept plain (1–2 each side), stop 2 rows before the next structure change.
Steps
1) After structure change knit 2 rows. 2) Move alternate stitches one needle left. 3) Knit 2 rows. 4) Move alternate stitches one needle right (offset). 5) Knit 2. Repeat.
Charting
Step diagram: upper row back bed (dots for jersey zone), lower row front bed; same-bed curved arrow above each moved stitch; after transfer, receiving needle tall bar, emptied needle short bar.
Limits and common problems
Two adjacent empty needles cannot both rebuild in one pass (they form one big loop across both). Fix: put one out of work, tuck/knit the other, then bring the second back. Each empty needle needs a full stitch on both sides.
Combines with
accordion-rib-jersey, rib-jersey-relief, cable-in-jersey.
